I still think michelle is absolutely right I don't think its personal to just her I think its gonna be a huge problem with many girls as they grow up, makeup does really give you a sort of face dysmorphia where the face you see everyday isn't really what you look like and you do become attached to it.

"We become much more confident too as we get older" I relate to this so much. I used to wear a full face of makeup every day, and I mean complete FULL BEAT lol. I didnt appreciate natural looks when I was younger, and I couldnt even imagine stepping outside of my house without that fully beat face. Other than that I was also very obsessed with my weight. But as I'm turning 30 next year, I have just miraculously become more and more OK with my appearance? I wouldn't say I'm confident - I'm still quite far from that, but I'm getting more and more comfortable with myself. I guess that's a nice start too haha.
Yes! I totally agree with you. I think we fall into our natural beauty with age as well. Full face of makeup to BB cream and highlight but 1000x more confidence then when I was younger.
I wish more older women felt that way. Ive seen a lot of older women losing confidence as they're growing older. I hope I become more like you instead of losing my confidence! Trying to ignore the beauty standards!
Boss Souvannakane nope, considering she was born in 1987, and started RUclips on 2007 under the name RiceBunny and her real name. She has to be 20 at the time (unless you consider 20 to be teenage still)
The skin's change is so real. I used to have a very oily skin when I was 17-20 years old but very recently I realised my skin is more into a normal type rather than oily. So I've change my skincare routine and adapting the new one into my life.
I don't think she was insisting foundation was bad for her skin though, just how she has more room to focus on her skincare rather than face makeup; which is why she said it's been better for her skin. It's good that you mentioned that it's not bad but all depends if you can do proper follow up skincare! Every person is different but I do believe the entire face dysmorphia is a very real thing now with the age of social media. It's sort of like how when you're so used to having something, to have it taken away is unbearable. When you wear makeup because you feel like you need it because you don't look like yourself (when in reality your makeup only shows a lil bit of who you are) can be very unhealthy towards someone's confidence.
So true about using less foundation in our later years!!! I love my makeup and getting pampered but I do tend to use less makeup, especially on my work days! I have invested more into my skincare routine in my late 20s also. It's more like a relaxation routine for me now. ❤️❤️❤️
Alice Borbeli same here I have changed dramatically in 4 years! I take amazing care of skin now that it’s glowing and hydrated more I also invested into skincare
I love these videos but I just wanted to give you a heads up that Biologique Recherche actually suggests you mix it with water in the beginning of using P50 at least until you are used to it. Thank you.
I love Michelle Phan when she first started as RiceBunny, I literally watched all her skin routines and makeup. She was the first guru I watched in the early 2000's. She is so beautiful and her voice is so soothing to listen too! Love her!!!
Have you considered microblading? I had really terrible hyperpigmentation from extreme cystic acne and once I got my hormones balanced, I started microblading treatments and it's awesome and has made all the difference
@@JazmineNichole321I have been thinking about it but I need to inform myself more on the topic and research places where I live that do it. How many sessions did you need?
I had pretty bad cystic acne and I’ve been having microneedling treatments to help reduce the scarring and it really does help, I’ve only done two session(over the course of around 6 months) and my scars have reduced drastically and so has my redness. Would definitely recommend for anyone with scarring
I stopped using foundation 2 years ago, I was getting dark spots on my face (even tho I'm just 22) and instead I started using sunscreen it has make my life so much easier and my skin so much better.
Please NEVER stop doing these! Omg. This is a trend on RUclips I am COMPLETELY here for. ALSO, that Lotion P50 is like $100! Lmao idc I want it. Would you or anyone else reading this comment recommend it AFTER essence (I do have one in my current routine) and BEFORE serum? So for example: - cleanser (double cleanse) - essence - LOTION P50 ?? - vitamin c serum - moisturizer - SPF ...did I get the order right? Lol thanks in advance.
L. You actually made me realize I didn’t catch the order in this video. I was so distracted by her diluting the P50 I completely spaced out. Thanks for pointing it out!
L. She’s using it in that order to reduce the effectiveness on purpose. Normally any chemical exfoliant should be applied immediately after cleansing. If you’re using an abscorbic acid serum I would keep that in the AM and use P50 at night. The Tarte Knockout is a good dupe for the P50 by the way.
I’m a oily person, I can’t wait for my skin to change. Lol. Also, scientifically speaking, adding water (pH of 7) would push an acid (pH below 7) or a base (pH above 7) closer to seven, which is neutral and therefore it would lessen the effectiveness if you’re trying to use the acidity or basicity of a product to affect a change in your skin.
I remember years ago she made a basic skincare video on youtube. She was the one to teach me to use cleanser, exfoliate 2x week, use toner, eye cream, moisturizer and SPF! I was like 12 and my skin is still as bouncy as it was back then
Would LOVE to see your reaction to Jeffree Star's EXTREME ANTI-AGING routine! Love this series - I realize I make so many mistakes in my skincare routine and telling us what not to do is sometimes 10x more helpful then telling us what to do!
I also think its important to note that even past skin changes, a lot of people are using expired products without realizing it and you can develop a reaction to something after it expired that you didn't when it was newer. That just happen to my grandma.
I had the same experience with noxzema cream 😭😭 and then i seen an article on skin care in a magazine when i was young that said cleansing and moisturizing can take 5 years off your appearance so i said to myself “if i do this now i can save my self when im older” and little did i know i was right🤣🤣
Everything about the foundation part Michelle has said, I agree. I'm 26 and I have stopped using everyday foundation/powder since I've found out Michelle stopped (her June 7, 2017 ig post). The only time I would use powder is big events like weddings. As for my mom (59), I've noticed she packed on more makeup over the years 'cause the insecurity just kept bulding but her skin is still in pretty darn good condition without all that makeup and I'm helping her learn that. Ps we both love doing our everyday morning & night Korean skincare routine. ♡
THERMAGE!! if the radio frequency goes into Apoptosis (cell death) that is no longer what thermage is supposed to do! you have to monitor the temperature for it to stimulate and NOT mess with the coating around the fat cells. It's all about going to someone you trust and someone who knows the science behind it and the attention to detail. Radio frequency is used for body contouring and I will say it is only a few degrees in difference between the stimulation and then the fat cell death, it's all about who is doing it right! I do like that you mentioned that because some people may not know what is going on and the repercussions of doing a trendy treatment that goes wrong. Love you and your skincare videos they are so educational and do so much for people who dont have all this knowledge available to them
I totally waited to see what you had to say about the products she was using before I thought about purchasing them, I just really value your opinion because I know you have a wide variety of knowledge about skin care, I’m glad you made this video!!
My skin changed drastically a while ago. I got these painful pimples all over my face and eventually I realized that they weren’t impurities but rather teeny tiny wounds that got infected and irritated when I tried to tackle them with heavy duty akne cleansers etc. For that reason I think it’s great people like you are making videos, educating others about the importance of treating your skin as gently as possible.
I totally agree about the face dysmorphia. It's not just a Michelle thing. It's very real for many. I wore full face makeup from about age 16-29. I would never leave the house without foundation/concealer/powder- the works. To see my face without makeup- it felt like my natural face wasn't mine. And on the flip side even my fully made up face would bother me, I would see that I needed to touch up, or something was out of place, it was never good enough. Two years ago I stopped wearing makeup on my skin. It was the best decision ever. I feel better about my skin, how I look, and the general health of my skin has gotten so much better (also have invested more in skin care). It is very strange how makeup can have such a lasting impression on how one views themself.
I haven't worn foundation in over a year without a proper skincare routine since my husband and I moved to the desert in Southern California. My skin became DRY. Imagine: no moisturizer and no sunscreen. He's in the military and I just left all of my makeup back home with my sister when we moved. I just started curating a really solid regime for my morning and evening. I can honestly say that I am so happy seeing my natural skin glow without makeup while knowing I am investing in my skin for the long run.
A similar thing happened to me when I turned 30, I realised why am I using so much foundation everyday when really it was making me feel worse about my real skin. I don’t wear it anymore accept for nights out and feel so confident with my natural face. I’ve been told I look younger without it so go figure:)
I LOVE that skincare routine serie!!!.. it's really intresting! I am trying to figure out mine at this time, i bought SO MANY products in the last 2 years, and i have to admit i have put on products that didn't work well together on my face in the past. But at least i started watching skincare RUclips videos to get educated and smart about it. I have turned 43 yesterday and i started using sunscreen only this year... LADIES don't do like me. I love your channel. ;)
I wish I had a good regimen when young. I’m in my 50s now and I’m trying to undo all my damage. I had oily skin and would wash my face with dish soap in the summer because I was working outside and sweating. I thought I was growing old gracefully until I hit my 40s. Every bad habit showed up over night and this was after I changed my habits for the better. It was too late. Damage was lying in wait. Ah well.
I'm just here to give you a shout out, Susan for educating us all on how to go through life with better skin as we age. I'm so glad I found you. On another note, pregnancy looks gorgeous on you 💙
I’m inspired by people like Michelle Phan who go make up free. I can’t afford to have a good skincare routine & a full make up routine, so I go without. I have also decided to take my sunscreen coverage more seriously, which makes wearing foundation pretty impossible (I layer & reapply every two hours). It’s good to hear people like Michelle Phan’s who was a beauty guru on RUclips and is an overall beautiful person say that they go without foundation!
So far in this series, I would say that Michelle is the only one who cleanses and preps her skin ever so gently. No tugging around the eye area and rough towelling on the face. With most others who came after her, I actually cringe and feel that they are taking 2 or 3 steps backwards in the name of good night time skincare routine. It is ironic. Perhaps the younger people are still in blissful ignorance or care less about treating their skin with more love and gentleness. Hence Michelle is still so real and relevantl to me after all these years.
For the Lotion P50. I use the sensitive one, the company did a consultation with me and said If the P50 seems a little strong at first simply wet the cotton pad before applying. Press inward and upward. Starting at the neck and moving up to the hairline it will burn tingle and turn the skin pink a bit, this is normal. It’s expensive so I got the $28 travel size to test it out first since my skin is so sensitive.
I am 45 and any beauty magazine from the late 80s on contained advice to protect from UVA and UVB waves to avoid skin cancer and aging. Avobenzone was approved in 1989 and it changed suncreen tremendously, making the consistency far more appealing to put on your face, under makeup etc. I have been wearing sunscreen since the age of 15, and though the products are far better today, the advice has not changed.
So glad to see young people becoming brave and nixing foundation. It’s a choice and everyone is different, it changed me mentally when I did this and I am 42, my skin improved tremendously and I appreciate my skin more now.

anthony fam I think it would be so interesting to see the average person ( non celebrities) in their bathrooms doing their skincare routine!! Susan you should consider this idea! Super unique.. maybe not a lot of people would be comfortable with it .. but I’m sure you’d get some takers 😉
I too started using spf from 15 on, a little ocd, and it wasn't because I knew it was anti-aging it was because I get lots of freckkles. Five minutes in the sun, and I I don't tan (not cool!) I am a bunch of freckles. Blessings in disguise.
Please make a video about the negative side effects of ultheraphy and other laser treatments!! I'd never heard that it could affect your face's plumbness...

I just found out who you are and have watched all of your reaction videos the past three nights. Love them and can not wait to start taking care of my skin with your tips
Could you do a video about collagen supplements? I don't know at what age is good to start with that, I'm 23 and I don't know what to do to take care of my skin :c
Collagen supplements are sadly mostly a scam. Just like collagen moisturizers. If we were able to supplement with collagen our skin wouldn’t age. However there are supplements that help boost our own collagen production such as vit C, copper, sulfur, glucosamine and animo acids (which most “collagen” supplements are) Going to sleep early is one of the best ways to boost and maintain our own collagen.
I love these reaction video's! There is always something to learn and it's also so interesting to see why people make certain choices for their skin! ❤
Susan I use Michelle’s routine( already) with a slight difference - I use the Youth to the People acid toner( also I’m 6 years older) instead of the P50 which I did use in the past.. I tend to like to try different products in this category. Also I use a peptide serum from Good Molecule. My question is- I still have hormonal acne and I’m wondering if you think the addition of one more product- say Paula’s Choice BHA.. could correct/ prevent/ help the hormonal acne. It’s not awful- but it def stops the no foundation train. Oh! I use Kraves Great Barrier Relief! Bc my skin doesn’t heal like it used to and actually GBR is the first product I’ve tried that helps withmainly new but also old scarring.. so can you recommend an addition(s)? My skin is dry- sometimes dehydrated- normal once in a blue
I don’t know about you guys but I always wash my hands free of hair products before I touch my face. 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t like the idea of hair products on my face might break me out 😱
Hey, this might be a weird request, but could you do Dr Dray's morning routine? Its rather unusual...or at least seems unusual to me, and I would enjoy hearing your take.
I love watching bed time routines. Now I get 2 for 1. I get to watch them and your thoughts. Keep them coming. Also finally someone who didn’t use make up wipes. 👍🏻✨✨
I definitely agree with Michelle that when you get older, you shouldn't use foundation for your face. I think its foundation has a lot of chemical in it that damages your skin in a long term. I stopped using foundation when I had reached to 50 years old and have maintained my skin with serum and moisturizer since then. I don't want to be a slave to makeup, I just want to have healthy, natural looking skin only. If you have beautiful skin, you don't need to use foundation. Period.
Susan, please make a video on skin care that helps with dark circles under the eyes, especially for the girl that is super minimalistic with makeup and don’t want to pack on concealer! Please! 🤗🤗
Actually I read that leaving sheet masks on to dry causes reverse osmosis-basically the mask ends up drawing moisture out of your face, which is the opposite of what you want 😊😊
I know this video is older but just for information...Biologique actually states on their site to use the toner with a bit of water in the first week to get the skin used it the product 😉

I relate to this so much.
I've had the opposite experience, unfortunately.
I'm 30 in like 9 days. Totally agree.
In her 30’s😱....I thought she was in her 20’s! Her skin looks amazing!! Let me go screenshot the products she uses!
Trust me in her early days of RUclips where she did a lot of DIYs, she looks like she's in her teens.
Le Azure so you’re telling me that she wasn’t in her teens in the early days?!
Boss Souvannakane nope, considering she was born in 1987, and started RUclips on 2007 under the name RiceBunny and her real name. She has to be 20 at the time (unless you consider 20 to be teenage still)
Calm down. She was just in her twenties like 18 months ago.
@@sincity8717 actually she was 32 when you wrote this
For as many of y’all that requested Michelle Phan, this video better get 1 million views! 🤣🤣

Susan is like the guru for skin care , she sets the bar high like what michelle did in the beauty community. i'm hooked to this channnel.🙋♀️🙋♀️😍😍😘😘
The skin's change is so real. I used to have a very oily skin when I was 17-20 years old but very recently I realised my skin is more into a normal type rather than oily. So I've change my skincare routine and adapting the new one into my life.

I feel naked when i go out without my sunscreen.
I never go out without my sunscreen anymore. I can feel the uv rays damaging my collagen and elastic fibers . its scary lol
you’re the person I want to be
Do you have a recommendation for a good sunscreen? I hate mine
@@an-ub8kv what's your skin type, and do you prefer using physical or chemical sunscreens???
@@mykailacharfauros9657 i've only ever used chemical, and my skin is sensitive and dry-ish!
Would be Interesting to know your opinion about Kourtney Kardashian's skincare routine video on Vogue
Dayana Delgadillo me too!
I agree, I'd love to see her react to it!
Your mailonline t
I’m pretty sure she had a neurological disease where her nerves stung when applying makeup.
This was great..
I think Michelle is like the Original beauty RUclipsr.. and with your knowledge, it was I think one of the best reactions to see
So true about using less foundation in our later years!!!
Thank you.
Michelle Phan is better than all them other “Makeup Gurus”! She’s the OG 🗣💯
Thank you for these videos! You and Tati are my cool aunts that tell me all about skincare and makeup!
The part about foundation sounded like it hit you in a deep place!!! You needed to "point that out" 😂😂
I love Michelle Phan when she first started as RiceBunny, I literally watched all her skin routines and makeup. She was the first guru I watched in the early 2000's. She is so beautiful and her voice is so soothing to listen too! Love her!!!
As soon as my hyperpigmentation from current and past acne is gone foundation will be DEAD TO ME
Have you considered microblading? I had really terrible hyperpigmentation from extreme cystic acne and once I got my hormones balanced, I started microblading treatments and it's awesome and has made all the difference
@@JazmineNichole321I have been thinking about it but I need to inform myself more on the topic and research places where I live that do it. How many sessions did you need?
Same!!
Same!!!
Susan really reminds me of Maggie Q, as in Hannah Wells in Designated Survivor!
Omg yes I love her in the show Nikita
Please NEVER stop doing these! Omg. This is a trend on RUclips I am COMPLETELY here for.
ALSO, that Lotion P50 is like $100! Lmao idc I want it. Would you or anyone else reading this comment recommend it AFTER essence (I do have one in my current routine) and BEFORE serum?
So for example:
- cleanser (double cleanse)
- essence
- LOTION P50 ??
- vitamin c serum
- moisturizer
- SPF
...did I get the order right? Lol thanks in advance.
L. Use it before essence and serum 👍
@@SusanYara got it! Thank you so much Susan!
L. You actually made me realize I didn’t catch the order in this video. I was so distracted by her diluting the P50 I completely spaced out. Thanks for pointing it out!
@@SusanYara hehe, didnt mean to call Michelle out...I was sincerely lost lol but I'm glad you told me! :)
These really are your best videos, Susan. Thanks so much for continuing to react to these Harper’s GUWMs!
Yesterday I saw her skincare routine and I thought that susan is definitely going to looooooooooove this..And today I have seen this!😍
Love these videos... some people are so good at skincare and some are pretty terrible!
Something to look forward to when I’m older...my cheekbones to make an appearance!! 😂😂
I learn so much from these reaction videos! Thank you!!! :)
I think you should check out the Kardashian’s skincare routines.
Cinderfire I think its just treatments and surgery
Blue Bear facials are not surgeries
Blue Bear I saw something with Kourtney and her routine. I was like noooooooooooo
It would be based on the brand paying the highest price so don’t bother 🙄
Grace Kelly I do t recall seeing any sponsor wordage. A lot are biased on what brands they use. Worth checking into I’d think. Kinda interesting
Literally have been waiting for this like all week! Love this series 😍
I tried all the products that she mentioned and it's working great for me. 😊
Your make up looks so good in this video Susan!
Susan, would you maybe review viewers routine in the future ? I think it would be interesting to watch ^^
Steffi's Fluffjar yeah that would be much appreciated by the smaller RUclips community 🤗
I love this idea! See if we are taking her advice correctly
Yes please
Please do Jeannie Mai from The Real (Hello Hunnay on RUclips)

My skin changed drastically a while ago. I got these painful pimples all over my face and eventually I realized that they weren’t impurities but rather teeny tiny wounds that got infected and irritated when I tried to tackle them with heavy duty akne cleansers etc. For that reason I think it’s great people like you are making videos, educating others about the importance of treating your skin as gently as possible.
Oh my goodness yes try out her cleansers! The founder of the brand is Charlotte Cho from Soko Glam! 🥰🥰🥰
Do a reaction on Stephanie Nicole, I love her and would love to see your observation of her routine. ❤
I seriously feel like you're the only person on youtube that actually knows what she's talking about! Love your videos i've learned so much!
Im not yet done watching the vid but i think this is the video where susans the most quiet while watching the routine!
Ah well.

Ellie Q Thank you so much! 🙏
Love michelle phan and her routine! I bought most of the products she uses 😄
I love Michelle. She was my favorite you tuber back in the days. Still miss her.
It’s expensive so I got the $28 travel size to test it out first since my skin is so sensitive.
love double cleanse also. I wear mineral sunscreen so it is a must
I am 45 and any beauty magazine from the late 80s on contained advice to protect from UVA and UVB waves to avoid skin cancer and aging. Avobenzone was approved in 1989 and it changed suncreen tremendously, making the consistency far more appealing to put on your face, under makeup etc. I have been wearing sunscreen since the age of 15, and though the products are far better today, the advice has not changed.
I learn so much from these!! Love them 😍
So glad to see young people becoming brave and nixing foundation. It’s a choice and everyone is different, it changed me mentally when I did this and I am 42, my skin improved tremendously and I appreciate my skin more now.

I'd never heard that it could affect your face's plumbness...
i love this series! this is one of my favorite to watch. living on an island (Palau) with no dermatologist to consult with whole year round is tough. but watching your perspective helps a lot. thank you ♥.
Hey Susan, can you talk about how to use reintols for acne? Especially for people in their late 20s/early 30s? :)
I just found out who you are and have watched all of your reaction videos the past three nights. Love them and can not wait to start taking care of my skin with your tips
Could you do a video about collagen supplements? I don't know at what age is good to start with that, I'm 23 and I don't know what to do to take care of my skin :c
I don|t think susan is qualified to talk about that subject. Better ask a dermatologist
Can you do a reaction on Pony's skincare please. Thanks.
🤷🏻♀️ I don’t like the idea of hair products on my face might break me out 😱
Trueee face first and anything for hair and body I apply afterwards
There was a cut in-between so I'm sure she washed her hands.
Depends on the hair products. She's only using a light weight oil which would be fine for the face
Susan is right. Diluting a ph level changes the effects of the product. I love her video reviews!
Hi! What’s the blush on your cheeks? Looks gorgeous on your skin tone😍
Period.
Please review Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's routine!
Hi Susan! BR actually says to dilute it with a few drops of water when you first start using it.
Jennifer Freeman That’s good to know!
I have no idea why, but Michelle reminds me of Violet Baudelaire for some reason lol.
cassie i think it’s because of the dark long hair and fair skin
@@lenjoyer i guess, yea. I think its also just the way she talks.
